Online Writing Group

If you have sometimes thought you would like to write an article relating to your practice/research in the library field but weren't sure where to start, or if you are an experienced writer who would like the collegiality of belonging to a writing group, you may be interested in participating in an online writing group which I will facilitate from May to end of October 2013.

This group will operate on a similar basis to the group described in my article -
“Using a Blended Learning Approach to Increase Librarians’ Motivation and Skills to Publish”.  New Review of Academic Librarianship”. 18(1), pp. 7-25
- however it will be totally online in order to facilitate participation by  librarians outside of Ireland. The aim will be to bring a library-related article to completion within six months.

Please note
  • There is no charge for participating
  • The group is limited to 8 participants
  • Participants must be writing about a library-related topic
  • Participants will be expected to submit work to regular deadlines from May to end of October
  • Participants will be expected to give feedback to all members of the group at various stages
  • Work will not be in the public domain and will remain confidential to the group
f you are involved in the library profession and are really keen to publish and willing to put time and effort into this, please e-mail me before the 31st of April 2013.   In your e-mail, please include one sentence telling what you are interested in writing about  and in a second sentence state who you think the audience for an article on this topic might be.

The group will be very interactive.  I will do overall facilitation and assigning of writing tasks.  I've facilitated academic writing workshops across a variety of disciplines in Ireland and internationally.  Click here for a list of my publications.
