Trends and challenges to Future Libraries: Exploring Research Approaches

Really interesting presentation by Sheila Weber at QQML 2016.  Her 's presentation slides are available athttp://bit.ly/1TGdoF9

She covers qualitative research methods including case study, ethnography, autoethnography, phenomenography and action research.  She has given me a good insight into a really diverse range of methods for data gathering - useful for research and practice.

Quality Measures in Irish Academic Libraries: Maynooth University Library Case Study

Looking  forward to presenting at QQML
My presentation, with Jon Purcell is on quality review in  the MU Library
Jon was one of our two external reviewers.

You may not be in London this lovely morning, but you can access the presentation  should you wish.
Jon and I also wrote a chapter in a recent Elsevier book  Quality and the Academic Library edited by  Jeremy Atkinson.  Our chapter is Self and Peer Assessment at Maynooth University Library and it gives additional information about the process.

You can view the Quality Review Blog which was developed by Bernadette Gardiner and Emma Boyce to supplement the printed documentation for our 2015 Quality Review.  This allowed the reviewers to view examples of MU Library activity before coming on site and hopefully made a nice change from reading the Self-Assessment Report.  Bernadette and Emma wrote an interesting article on the process of creating the blog for the quality review for SCONUL Focus.

Call for Papers - Library Management Journal

Library Management has opened submissions for two special issues.
Submissions to both issues will be due by December 2016.

Managing Special Libraries and Innovative Services This special issue will focus on all aspects of the managerial challenges facing Librarians in Special Libraries and Innovative Services, but especially on increasing value and reducing vulnerability.
Guest edited by:  Dr Petros Kostagiola, Ionian University and Steve O'Connor, Information Exponentials and Charles Sturt University
Future Roles of Librarians
This issue supports a range of questions  around the new roles for librarians and how they can be empowered to shape the future of the profession. What are the current and future needs of users in a complex technological and open access environment and on what basis are the current and future skills required of librarians for these new roles and how can they can develop them more effectively?
Guest edited by: Dr Konstantina (Dina) Martzoukou, Aberdeen Business School, The Robert Gordon University and Steve O'Connor, Information Exponentials and Charles Sturt University
