call for case studies

Forwarded on behalf of Marion Huckle at CILIP - please contact the researcher directly if you are interested.

Colleagues

Norman Horrocks, a Canadian colleague and very good friend of CILIP, has passed to me a request from a PhD candidate at McGill University, Yusuke Fitzgibbons.

Yusuke has conducted a survey on librarians' educational experience teaching international students. The data she has gathered is to be included in a book to be published by the Association of College & Research Libraries in 2011. The book will present case studies of academic library initiatives that support the library, research, and information literacy needs of international students. The target audience of this book will be other librarians and the editors wish to include a number of case studies to illustrate successful initiatives that support the library, research, and information literacy needs of international students, including case studies from outside the US. Yusuke has gathered some responses from Australian librarians and now hopes to gather experiences from the UK and New Zealand. The case studies will offer varied perspectives and share ideas about how to encourage international students to use the library and break down barriers to their success.

I'd be most grateful if you could alert members of your Group to this project and invite them to contact Yusuke direct if they wish to find out more information or contribute a case study. Her email address is:
yusuke.ishimura@gmail.com

The deadline for receiving a proposal (not the finished case study) is 30th June 2010.
