In 1995 Nigerian activist and writer Ken Saro-Wiwa was executed for protesting about the activities of the petrochemical industry in his homeland Ogoni, in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria. During the two years leading up to his execution he corresponded extensively with Sister Majella McCarron (OLA). She donated his letters, poems and various other papers relating to this period, to the Library at NUI Maynooth. The book (based on the Ken Saro-Wiwa Archive) Silence Would Be Treason: Last Writings of Ken Saro-Wiwa edited by Íde Corley, Helen Fallon and Laurence Cox, will be launched in the Library at NUI Maynooth at 12.30 on 7th November.
