Maynooth University Library Academic Writing Workshop

The annual Maynooth University Library Writing for Academic Publication Workshop for library staff who wish to write for publication will take place via Zoom on Wednesday June 10th. 

The presenters are Helen Fallon and Laura Connaughton.               

Content:

There are two sessions.  It is possible to attend one or both sessions. Both are via Zoom.
The first session 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. is a practical workshop on writing for publication for library journals. Participants will carry out a number of writing tasks with the aim of drawing up an outline for an article (including title, keywords and abstract) and begin writing the article.  The session will conclude with advice on submitting to journals, dealing with peer review and publicising your published article. The second session from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. deals with poster presentations. Participants will learn practical, adaptable tips on how to design posters.

There is no charge for this event.  Places are limited to 20 and booking is essential.  It is possible to book one or both sessions.

Presenters:  Helen Fallon has published extensively and has presented academic writing programmes in Ireland, UK, USA, Sweden, Croatia and Malaysia. She is a member of the editorial board of New Review of Academic Librarianship (NRAL) and the creator of the Academic Writing Librarian blog

Laura Connaughton has published professional and peer-reviewed articles and  presented at national and international conferences.  She won the 2015 Academic and Special Libraries Conference Poster Competition and the CONUL Conference 2016 Poster Competition
