Call for Presentations - LAI academic & Special Libraries Annual Seminar 2018

The Library Association of Ireland Academic & Special Libraries section annual seminar will take place  on 9th March 2018 in the National Gallery of Ireland.  The theme of the conference is: ‘Fail Better; Lessons Lived, Lessons Learnt.’

"Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better."  Samuel Beckett
Last year the conference explored the social role that librarians play within communities.  Following on from this, the conference this year is attempting to break the stigma of failure within those communities and explore how acceptance of failure within an organisation can prove beneficial.
The A&SL Committee invites submissions on the following topics or any others that may be relevant to the theme:
·        Learning from failure
·        Contingency planning
·        Iterating on attempts
·        Accepting imperfection
·        Recovering from missteps
·        Crisis management
·        Creativity as a by-product of failure
·        Supporting failure
·        Demystifying failure
·        Developing cultures of experimentation in libraries
·        Beta testing new services
·        Promoting adaptive and resilient approaches to library services
Please email aslsectionevents@gmail.com for a submission form and further details. Closing date for submissions is November 16th, 2017
