Learning Outcomes
Participants will:
develop their motivation and inspiration to write; identify publishable
material; identify appropriate publishing outlets; learn how to write a well
structured abstract; draw up an outline for an article, write a section of the article, understand what
editors look for in an article, develop greater understanding of the peer
review process and dealing with peer review; identify ways to publicise their
published work and develop productive writing habits.
In the afternoon
session participants will learn practical, adaptable tips on how to design
posters and will have an opportunity to design a basic poster.
The programme is
highly participative with practical writing sessions and a poster design
session.
Presenters: Helen Fallon has published extensively and has
presented academic writing programmes in Ireland, UK, USA and Malaysia. She is
a member of the editorial board of New Review of Academic Librarianship (NRAL)
and the creator of the Academic Writing

Laura Connaughton has

and Special Libraries Conference Poster Competition and the CONUL Conference
