The call for papers for the 12th International Conference on Performance Measurement in Libraries is now open. Formerly known as the Northumbria Conference, it will be held from 31st July – 2nd August 2017 in Oxford, UK.

Call for chapters - Planning Academic Library Orientation

The call for chapter proposals is now open for Planning Academic Library Orientations: Examples and Strategies from Online Tutorials to Scavenger Hunts. The book will be edited by Kylie Bailin, Ben Jahre, and Sarah Morris and published by Elsevier.
The submission deadline for proposals is 9th January 2017 and full chapters will be due 1st June 2017.

Of interest for this publication are case studies of library orientations from universities and colleges, even if the program did not result in the expected outcome. Authors should choose one of the following headings, Though submissions are likely to contain overlapping areas, authors should choose one of the following headings:
  • Tours/presentations
  • Games
  • Technology
  • Targeting specific audiences
  • Partnerships
  • Marketing/promotion
  • Assessment

Proposals should be emailed to libraryorientationsbook@gmail.com as either a PDF or Microsoft Word document. Proposals must include:
  • Author name(s)
  • Institutional affiliation(s) and position title(s)
  • Author(s)' previous writing and publishing history, if any
  • Proposed chapter title and chapter heading
  • 250-300 word summary of the proposed chapter
Proposals must not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another publication.

The submission deadline for proposals is 9th January 2017 and full chapters will be due 1st June 2017.

Call for papers - Urban Library Journal

The call for papers for the Urban Library Journal is now open.

Articles pertaining to librarianship in all urban locations are welcome. Potential topics include:
  • Reference and instruction in diverse, multicultural urban settings
  • Radical librarianship, social justice issues, and/or informed agitation
  • Intentional design/"library as space" in an urban setting
  • Physical and/or virtual accessibility issues
  • Open access/open education resources in urban systems
  • Innovative collaboration between academic departments, other branches, or community partnership
Articles should be between 2,500 and 5,000 words and further information on submission guidelines can be found here.

Submissions close 1st February 2017.

The call for papers is now open for Endnotes: The Journal of the New Members Round Table. 

Fitting topics for original research papers include:
  • Training and mentoring
  • Job searching or hiring
  • Developing leadership and management skills
  • Library instruction and assessment
  • Academic librarian responsibilities: hiring, promotion, and tenure
  • Developing new collections or services
Articles should be between 2,000 and 4,000 words. Submissions will be accepted year-round, but the deadline for consideration in the Spring 2017 issue is 15th February 2017.

Call for chapters - Library as Technology Facilitator (LITA Guide)

The call for chapter proposals for Library as Technology Facilitator (LITA Guide) are now open.
Though libraries are known as technology facilitators, resources vary drastically from location to location. Certain communities (e.g. new immigrants, rural communities) are not exposed to technology extensively. Of particular interest for this LITA Guide are case studies of libraries that have been able to offer high quality technology and training, and proposals that address physical access, patron and staff training, makerspaces, technology for jobs and business, and technology industry partnerships. 
Proposals must include:
  • Author name(s)
  • Brief author bio(s)
  • Proposed chapter title
  • A 300-500 summary of the proposed chapter 
Proposals should be emailed to laurenandreacomito@gmail.com. The deadline for proposal submissions is 1st January 2017.  

Chapter drafts will be due 1st May 2017 and should include:
  • Explanation of the problem and community need, including demographics and geographical information for the community
  • Project summary (budget, resources, methods, process, etc.)
  • How the project affected the community and the lessons learned
  • May include up to five figures

Call for papers - Innovation, Inspiration and Creativity Conference 2017

The call is now open for papers is now open for the 13th Annual Innovation, Inspiration and Creativity Conference. The conference will take place in Scarborough, UK from 13th - 15th November 2017.

Submissions for full workshops, short presentations, and "alternative" slots will close in May 2017.

Submissions for posters and lightning talks will close in early October 2017.

Call for papers - Journal of Copyright in Education and Librarianship

The call for papers is now open for the Spring 2017 issue of the Journals of Copyright in Education and Librarianship.

Possible submissions include original research, practitioner experience papers, or legal analysis that discuss copyright as it relates to education and librarianship. Papers are selected by double-blind peer review.

The Journal is published in Autumn and Spring, however accepted articles will be immediately available online following peer review and editing.
